Description:
Reverse-label 13C of lignins, carbohydrates, proteins, and aliphatics of loblolly pine seedlings. After seedling growth we will remove the potted seedlings and in the laboratory trace UV photolytic reaction products thru the microbial populations.About 50 pine seedlings will be grown in pots in each of two FACE rings, one elevated and the other ambient in CO2. The growth period will be over the course of one growing season, at most two. Potted seedlings will then be removed from the rings, where they will be brought to Duke and UNC for Laboratory studies.
